TO PEE AND WHERE TO PEE

Historical Architecture: The teacher announces our next task - we are to pick a number and the building assigned to that number is what we have to do a presentation on. Fun! The slideshow begins and, one by one, each student is introduced to their piece of architecture.

Museum of Contemporary Art located in The Rocks

The Clarence Street Office Building

Aurora Place and Macquarie Apartments
Just to name a few.

And then, my number is up - #5. The anticipation is killing me! What could it be? There is so much beautiful architecture in and around the city of Sydney. I was really looking forward to this assignment. And then...... it appears.

Here it is! What I was waiting for - The Men's Underground Public Lavatory in Macquarie Park. Huh?

It was built in 1908 - one of many.

Here's a photo of it back in the 1930's

And a watercolour plan of it

Simon and Mandy (our teachers) walked around the city and took the photos. What were they thinking when they chose this one? "Who will be the lucky one assigned to this?". I didn't think I'd find much information but, believe it or not, my presentation was 5-10 minutes long. Throwing in a bit of humour, I did ok.

QUOTE FROM A FRIEND

"Perhaps the reason you stay together after all these years is the fact that you’re still trying to capture each other any way you can, every moment you have. Maybe the fact that you never can catch it all keeps it so fascinating."

Thanks for stopping by. I thought starting this page would be a fun way to keep in touch and you can see what I've been up to. My life took a surprising and wonderful turn back in 2006. Whoda thought I'd find myself leaving Chicago and moving to the other side of the world where I'm now enjoying life in Australia!
